On Jan. 30, 2010 I was invited by Norm Beal, head of Peninsula Ridge, to visit the property and sample some wines from barrel, as well as from bottle.  Norm is a very generous man, as you will see from the quantity of notes, and his winery produces some terrific juice.

Lemon pith, bartlett pear, and some mineral/gravel on the palate.

Fresh, grassy nose with notes of asparagus, green beans and lemon.
On the palate, there’s asparagus, herbs like sage and thyme and a touch of bitter lemon.

(Niagara, Ontario)
Made in the classic champagne method. 70% Chardonnay, 30% Pinot Noir.
On the nose, crackers, yeast, bread, and a bit of lemon.
Palate: Zippy acidity, refreshing, cleansing on the palate. With Salmon, or a plate of oysters this would be gorgeous. Don’t wait for New Years, Tuesday is good enough!

Pale gold color
On the nose: pencil lead, lemon skin and baked apple.
The combo of baked apple and rich vanilla end up tasting like apple crumble on the palate!
Great with turkey for the holidays!
2) Yalumba Shiraz-Viogner 2006

Really lively and fresh on the nose with hints of cherry and red current.
