Pale straw colour. Fine bubbles, persistent mousse. Fresh, youthful nose of gumdrops, green apple, fresh bread, almonds, and a hint of pear.
Dry, med. body, med. to med. plus acidity. Green apple, some pear, bread, and a faint nuttiness*. Med. length.
*In my online review I mention that this comes from the Pinot Noir in the blend, which is not the entire reason. Nutty characteristics also come from the wine being “on its lees”, which means in contact with the spent yeast cells.

Hope Estate “The Ripper” Shiraz 2007 Western Australia (screwcap)
Dense, nearly opaque purple/ruby colour. High viscosity. Med. intensity nose of prunes, tobacco, vanilla, wood spice, and black currant jam.
Dry, full body, med. plus tannin. Tobacco, prunes, vanilla, cedar, and black currant jam. High alcohol, but balanced. Long length, silky mouth-feel. Very good quality.
